Content Analyst (Games and Challenges)

About Anstream

Antstream is the world’s first retro game streaming subscription service and since our June 2019 launch we’re proud to now have over 1000 retro games in our library. Just like Netflix or Spotify, we're adding content each week and we have an opportunity for an energetic person to join the content team and help us add more games. However unlike any other gaming service we also have our unique hyper-casual challenges for the games we feature -  designed and implemented by the Antstream team.

 

We’re all passionate here about bringing the very best retro gaming service so we will be looking for a true proactive team player that is ready to help where needed to meet our quality and delivery goals.  

 

Essential:

  • Able to commute to our London Bridge offices after this pandemic allows - this will not be a remote working position.

  • Authorised to work in the UK.

 

Must have skills & abilities: 

  • Experience using the MAME emulator to run arcade games (or other systems).

  • Some experience using Adobe Photoshop and/or Illustrator to prepare the game images within the product.

  • A technical mindset and a meticulous attention to detail.

  • A self-driven problem solver, able to try different tools at their disposal.

  • Strong communication skills, both in person and in record keeping.

  • A strong multitasker,organised and able to manage both short and long term goals. 

  • A quick learner with new computer programs and tools - able to ask for help when necessary.

  • A very good standard of written English is required for writing game instructions and editorial.

  • An interest in and some knowledge of retro gaming history.

Advantages to having:

  • Experience in QA/games testing - a keen eye for noticing anomalies and reporting them clearly.

  • Experience of using other retro game emulators such as Vice, Fuse, Mednafen etc.

  • A real passion and knowledge for retro gaming would help your day to day at Antstream.

  • An interest in game design for creating our hyper-casual challenges.

  • Exposure or an understanding of basic programming - as we sometimes adjust parameters within code. 

  • Skill working with layers and masking within photoshop or illustrator.

  • Experience using JIRA or similar kanban software for ticket tracking. 

  • Experience working with a CMS (content management system).

  • Experience using the Google suite for creating and maintaining documentation.

  • Good research skills for digging up information and images within Google search.

 

Day to day duties:

  • Preparing games to add to the Antstream Arcade platform using emulators and bespoke tools.

  • Conceptualising (game designing mini-games) our hyper-casual challenges derived from games on our platform.  

  • Adjusting control string code to enable games to be played on the Antstream Arcade platform.

  • Producing all the visual assets needed to represent the games on our platform, such as cover art, video clips and screenshots.

  • Compose written editorial for games such as descriptions, instructions and trivia.

  • As we work collectively as a team on our quality assurance, you will be responsible for checking other team members' work too.

  • Communicate with the team and sometimes developers to highlight technical problems.
