Revolution Software’s Shadow & Steel compilation is now available for purchase and download on Steam and coming soon to GoG.
This launch is the culmination of a partnership with Revolution, bringing seminal editions of their iconic early adventures together into a definitive retro collection for fans.

The Shadow & Steel collection includes:
Lure of the Temptress (Amiga Edition)
Beneath a Steel Sky (Amiga CD32 Edition)
Broken Sword: The Shadow of the Templars (PlayStation Edition)
Broken Sword II: The Smoking Mirror (PlayStation Edition)
The collection features original soundtracks, image galleries, game trailers, custom screen bezels, and scanlines. A new, custom PlayStation emulator renders animations correctly for the first time since the original hardware release. All titles support saved games and their original, localised languages, including the rare Dutch version for Lure of the Temptress.

Released in 1992, Lure of the Temptress was Revolution Software’s debut title. In this medieval fantasy world, a young peasant must escape prison and lead a rebellion against a tyrannical sorceress. The game's innovative “Virtual Theatre” engine was ground breaking at the time, allowing non-playable characters to follow their own routines independently of the player.
Beneath a Steel Sky, originally released in 1994, is a cyberpunk point-and-click adventure written in collaboration with Dave Gibbons (co-creator of Watchmen). Set in a dystopian future, the game follows protagonist Robert and his robot companion, Joey, as they navigate a corrupt society controlled by an all-powerful AI. The dark humor and distinctive art style make it a must-play for fans of the genre.

Revolution Software’s iconic early Broken Sword games have earned both acclaim and accolades over the last (almost) 30 years and are rated among the Top 5 Adventure Games of All Time with sales in the millions. The point-and-click narrative follows the globetrotting escapades of George and Nico as they uncover mysterious conspiracies rooted in history and mythology. Known for its clever puzzles, witty dialogue, and hand-drawn visuals, the series has captivated gamers for generations and continues to evolve through new titles.

The Shadow & Steel launch highlights Antstream’s new partnership initiative with industry pioneers to create retro game experiences outside of streaming subscription services. The goal is to preserve classic video games and allow players to own some of the greatest titles of a generation in their original formats. Antstream will share more about future partnership projects later this year and into 2026.
“Working in partnership with Antstream, we are enormously
proud to be able to offer our early adventure games
to a modern audience. I am confident that fans of the
genre will find the meticulous authenticity of the original
games, combined with the modernised interface and
bonus content, a real treat.”
