Responsibilities

​

As a Backend Developer on the team, you will play a key role in central aspects of online games infrastructure. This will include architecture, design, implementation and testing.

 

• Development of our backend services and API’s 

• Providing updates, enhancements and new features to our backend services platform

• Evangelise best practices through effective consultation with your peers

• Work with 3rd party vendors and continually review the latest technologies to help us stay ahead of the game

• Engage with the operations and engineering teams to automate and improve our tools and processes

• Write, review and take responsibility for technical documentation

• If you have most of the following, then we definitely want to hear from you:

• 5+ years industry programming experience

• A proven track record of building scalable multiplayer backend solutions

• Demonstrable experience in web microarchitecture and key technologies (Restful API’s/JSON, distributed design)

• Expert level JavaScript/ Node.js

• A proven track record building solutions for cloud PaaS, Iaas 

• Good database skills including SQL and NOSQL

• Experience in  test driven development and broader testing and QA concerns

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English

• Strong knowledge of Git source control

• Expertise in developing for operational and non functional concerns (monitoring integration, performance testing, scale, availability and resilience, security considerations)

• Linux/bash command line

 

Desirable - but not essential

​

• Other programming language experience such C++, JAVA, Python, PHP, Go

• Strong teamwork and leadership skills, ideally having fulfilled leadership or mentorship duties.

• Experience of frontend frameworks and libraries (React, etc.)

• Experience of writing games or backend game services

• Experience with Gamesparks

• Data analysis/design skills
